The pictures below are in the step-by- step formation. The last one is my preferred dimensions for this scarf - I like the big bulky ones. Go big or go home, right?
Materials:
1 yard of lacy fabric (or fabric of your choice)
Sewing machine
Matching thread and bobbin
Scissors
Directions:
Grab your lace fabric and lay it on a cutting surface. Fold it whichever way is more square. The wider the scarf, the nicer it will lay. The short edges, parallel to each other, are the ones that need hemmed.
Fold your hem over 1/2 inch and press, and then fold it over another 1/2 inch and press. Repeat on opposite side.
Sew with your needle to the far left and your presser foot as a guide, making sure to catch the hem.
Press to ensure a finished look.
Fold the fabric in half, wrong sides together, and pin the side with raw edges together. This is where we'll begin our French seam.
Sew with the needle to the far left and your presser foot as a guide (about a 1/4").
Trim that down about an 1/8 of an inch, making sure to not snip the seam. Turn the fabric inside out and sew down that same edge again, making sure to catch the seam you had previously sewn... and ta-da! A French seam! (A.K.A. no raw edges... And who doesn't like that?)
